TL;DR
The Dungeon Archive Patreon is migrating from Per-Creation Billing to Monthly Billing on March 16th, 2026. If you are already subscribed, nothing changes for you.
The tier structure will change a bit. We will add our own Asset Packs to Explorer Tier and above.
Pricing will be updated for new subscribers effective March 16th, 2026.
Hey everyone! We really do appreciate your support and trust over the years. We really take your contribution seriously, and if you decide to support us, we wish to respond with the same trust. The migration process is simple, but we are all part of the project, so we took some time to write this post and be as transparent as possible. Down below you will find all the information needed.
Migrating to monthly billing
Patreon is eventually forcing all creators to migrate from Per-Creation Billing to Monthly Billing. We have been considering this for a while, so we are making this change sooner than required because we think it adapts best to what The Dungeon Archive is today.
Why?
Versatility
With Per-Creation we had to release content 4 times a month for the project to be profitable. If we wanted to make a more time-consuming and ambitious release, we felt forced to split it into multiple releases. Likewise, if we wanted to release a smaller project, it didn't feel right to charge you like a full release for it.
With this change, we will have the freedom to release content without time constraints or feeling forced to comply with a monthly schedule.
For example, we can now do fully fleshed mega-dungeons or small maps without feeling the pressure of having to pack them together or split them into multiple releases.
Extra content
The Dungeon Archive started as a Battlemaps project, and we still are, and will still be, mainly focused on Battlemaps. But even though we are still a very modest project, it has grown, and we funnel most of what we earn back into the project and the community, adding extra stuff to enhance some of the releases. Like, for example, Animated Tokens, Illustrated Creatures, Animated Battlemaps, One-Page Dungeons, Guides, etc.
This extra content is not under a schedule, but every month we aim to add a fair amount of extra stuff, which is still very time-consuming and expensive to do.
With this change, if we feel like releasing a standalone pack of Animated Creature Tokens, animating a Battlemap, releasing a small map, releasing Assets Packs, or making a fully fleshed Guide of a city, we will have the freedom to do so without being dragged by a fixed releases schedule.
Revisiting old content
The project has also grown in quality, so we have a few old maps that we would love to revisit and improve, expand, or remake up to our current standards.
Patreon Tools
Patreon stopped supporting the Per-Creation model a while ago. With the new model, we will have many tools to offer to the community, like yearly discounts, gifting stuff to the most loyal fans, shop discounts, and more.
Clarity
On top of all of that, the Per-Creation model was convoluted and difficult to understand if you were new to Patreon. It will be much simpler now.
So what are the changes?
This post is purely informative. You don't have to do anything on your side. On March 16th, 2026, the following changes will apply:
You will be charged a fixed amount each month.
We won't stick to a fixed 4-releases per month schedule. Giving us the freedom to do bigger or smaller releases or adding extra content to them.
New content line: Asset Packs. Yep, we will also launch our very much requested Assets for you to decorate the maps or make your own from scratch.
Tier prices will be adjusted:
For existing subscribers before March 16th, 2026, you'll pay the same amount you are paying now.
Patreon forces us to take the same multiplier for all tiers depending on the number of our monthly releases. In our case it's 4. So, for example, for the Scribe Tier ($1), it will now cost $4 monthly. If you have a limit of releases you support monthly, we will also honor it. If you don't have a limit, it will be set to 4.
For new subscribers after March 16th, 2026, we will adjust the monthly prices manually (Scribe $2, Explorer $7, Cartographer $15). See the next section for the new tier structure.

As the project grows, we might change the tier structure, add content, or adjust the prices. But there is something that has never changed and will never change: we will always honor your pledge and won't increase your personal price. That means that the amount that you are supporting the project with will never change as long as you stay subscribed and keep your paying method (kudos to those of you still in the Legacy Cartographer Tiers).
Once again, thanks everyone for supporting the project. Being able to do this for a living is a dream come true, and we hope we can keep giving content back to the community for a very long time and keep adding cool stuff to every release. We have many wonderful plans for the near future.
See you very soon with more releases!
